A Beautiful Smile Can Make a Difference

According to research by Dr. Anne Beall, those with straight, white teeth are perceived to be more attractive, popular with the opposite sex, successful, and intelligent.  The results from the study were a little surprising even to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).  They expected that attractiveness and popularity with the opposite sex to be proven, but the findings on career success and intelligence were shocking.

Other research in the same area of study conducted in 2004 revealed more interesting facts such as, 99.7% of Americans believe a smile is an important social asset and nearly 75% of adults feel and unattractive smile can limit a person’s career success.

Natural Sugar Kills Bacteria That Cause Tooth Decay

Xylitol is a sweetner found in many natural sources including birch trees, beets and raspberries.  This sugar cannot be  metabolized by the cavity causing bacteria.  Table sugar is metabolized and allows bacteria to produce an acid that causes tooth decay.  Many mints, chewing gums, toothpastes and mouthwashes contain xylitol.
